Regarded as one of the nation’s premier sports communities, Monroe County has a rich sports history at both the professional and amateur levels. The Rochester Red Wings, the Rochester Americans, the Rochester Rhinos, Rochester Knighthawks and all of the area college and university teams provide a strong variety of quality sports for everyone to enjoy. 

The Sports Commission works diligently to promote Monroe County through sports. Make no mistake that sports are an important piece of our community’s economic vitality and quality of life. Over the next few years, Monroe County will host a PGA Championship, the Courage Games, and the J/24 World Sailing Championships. These events provide a tremendous boost to our local economy and encourage new and exciting sports ventures to consider Monroe County as a destination for future events.
