EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Rochester River Challenge and Outrigger Canoe Sprint Races.
The Rochester River Challenge is an inclusive event for people with and without physical and/or intellectual disabiities, a unique event in our community that is the largest outrigger canoe sprint race on the east coast of the United States. The RRC provides unique volunteer opportunities for PT students, ROTC cadets and others.
DIRECTIONS:
From the West – Take I-490 East to I-390 South. Take I-390 South to Exit 17 (Rt. 383). Turn left on Scottsville Rd (NY 383). Stay straight, go to Elmwood Ave. Turn right into drive at Genesee Valley Park Complex.
From the South – Take I-390 North to Exit 17 (Rt. 383). Turn left on Scottsville Rd. Stay straight, go to Elmwood Ave. Turn right into drive at Genesee Valley Park Complex.
From the East – Take I-490 West, merge onto I-590 South via exit 21. I-590 becomes I-390 North. Take Rt. 383 North Exit 17. Turn left and follow directions above.
TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION:
Rochester is only miles from many major cities! Albany, NY, Scranton, PA and Toronto, Canada are all under 4 hours away.
The Greater Rochester International Airport, located only four miles southwest of Rochester, has 8 major airlines including, American, Airtran, Continental, Delta, Jetblue, Northwest, United, and US Airways. For more information visit www.rocairport.com .

ADULT & YOUTH OUTRIGGER CANOE TEAMS:
► 7 - Person teams race in 30 foot, double-hulled Hawaiian outrigger canoes rigged catamaran-style for safety
► Each team paddles in two 400 meter sprints – the lowest combined time wins!
► Each team will be assigned a specific race time, with a total time commitment of 1.5 hours required
